The BBC and Climate Change: A Triple Betrayal, shows that the BBC has not only failed in its professional duty to report fully and accurately: it has betrayed its own principles, in three respects:

First, it has betrayed its statutory obligation to be impartial, using the excuse that any dissent from the official orthodoxy was so insignificant that it should just be ignored or made to look ridiculous.
Second, it has betrayed the principles of responsible journalism, by allowing its coverage to become so one-sided that it has too often amounted to no more than propaganda.
Third, it has betrayed the fundamental principles of science, which relies on unrelenting scepticism towards any theory until it can be shown to provide a comprehensive explanation for the observed evidence.

Chapter II 
The Age of the Great Massacres, 1917-1921
After the Bolshevik Revolution of October 25, 1917, the ethnic Germans of the former Tsarist empire (Russia and Ukraine) were immediately confronted by an organized campaign of terror. The best documented reports detailing the atrocities committed against these various groups of Germanic heritage cover the Volga, Ukrainian, and North Caucasus regions [...] The eruption of massacres manifested itself in a combination of small and large killing-operations involving, among other cruelties, the mass rape of the elderly, women and children, mass drownings, prolonged torture sessions, mutilations, hacking up of bodies, mass shootings of hundreds, even thousands in a single action, the holocaust of entire villages including the burning of all inhabitants and building structures, and the complete robbery of entire villages in the name of "requisition" and extermination of the "German kulaks, big farmers and counter-revolutionaries." (page 15)
"Better to die fighting than to starve slowly to death," was a common cry of the Russian Germans as they armed themselves with shovels and rakes. [...]
The argument is often made, even by some Russian-German authors, that the Germans, especially in Ukraine, were targeted solely for economic reasons, namely on account of their extensive land holdings. This overlooks the fact, however, that to label an entire ethnic group as "rich" or as "kulaks" is in itself a racial slur. For instance, Nestor Ivanovich Makhno, the Ukrainian anarchist from Gulyai Poyle, who wrecked more havoc in the German villages than any other single individual, was, according to Ingeborg Fleischhauer, from childhood on an "embittered hater of Germans." 
Fleischhauer remarks that as a child, he had worked as a shepherd for wealthy Germans in the Yekaterinoslav region, noting that it was at that time his hatred for and envy of the Germans and their land holdings began. After being an independent anarchist, Makhno joined forces with the Red Army in the first months of 1919. He and his followers were strongly nationalist oriented. Johannes Philipps writes concerning his activities: "No population in Ukraine suffered as much under them as did the Germans......What they couldn't take with them, they destroyed." Those who resisted ".....were harassed, beaten, and not seldom, the male head of the household was shot. Women were raped repeatedly." Johannes Schleuning writes, "Makhno went through the land wreaking vengenance on the Germans." (page 16-17)

Chapter III
Enforced Starvation, 1920-1925
Indeed, in order to stress the terror of the famine of 1932-1933, some authors claim that nature was responsible for the 1921 famine. In the light of available evidence, however, this argument is untenable. Thus, Donald Raleigh correctly criticizes V. V. Kondrashin for naively emphasizing failed harvest and droughts as the main causes of the 1921 famine. Any arguments for an unqualified exclusiveness with regard to the "man-made" famine of 1932-1933, be it in Ukraine or in the Volga-German ASSR, are shown to be untenable in light of the above testimonies stemming from an entire decade earlier. (p. 35)
The requisition of 1917-1921 also gave rise to a crisis threatening the very existence of the Ukrainian-German villages. In Kandel, 450 were starved to death. In GroBliebental, 16 to 20 died every day and were buried in mass graves. In Franzfeld, 45 perished from starvation. Another 151 died in Josephtal. In Landua, over 350 died from starvation.
During this mass starvation, approximately 10,000 Volga-German children were forcibly taken from their parents and transferred to Slavic families in Ukraine. The parents were told that conditions were better in "brotreich" Ukraine. The government was fully aware, however, that conditions were even worse in some areas in Ukraine than in the Volga region. (Page 40)
Chapter. VI
Starvation, Deportation, Execution, 1930-1939
The loss of human life during collectivization again in the late 1930's was not caused solely by starvation. Mass executions and deportations also claimed the lives of thousands of German village inhabitants [...]
The exact number of the Russian Germans (Russia and Ukraine) who fell victim to the Stalinist "purges" still remains unknown. However, in 1991, an NKVD list of 1937-1938 executed citizens of Odessa was published. The list reveals that, whereas the ethnic Germans in the city represented only 8.3 percent of the population, they nevertheless constituted 28 percent of those shot. [...]
With regard to the deportations of the early 1930's, eyewitness reports substantiate Alexandr I. Solzhenitsyn's claim that the intent behind the kulak expulsions was murder. According to a letter from April 18, 1930: And everywhere, when one asks about demanding their children back, the answer is received: "Just as you never got to see Nikolai II again, so those deported will never be returned to you." They proclaim openly: "We have sent the people out there so that they will die in misery." A similiar report reads: "Soon it will be as a Communist told me: "You should die a wretched death! We can't kill you all, but you will all die a wretched death!" Therefore a planned extermination, a cold- blooded murder of many thousands." According to Russian historian Dmitri Volkogonov, around one-fourth of the deported kulaks died in the space of a few months, and an additional one-fourth within only a year. [...]
According to Richard Walth, 350,000 Russian Germans (in Russia and Ukraine) perished in the famine of 1932-1933. Heinz Ingehorst puts the figure at 300,000 for the entire collectivization period. Working independently of Ingehorst, the author of this essay, using the 1937 census and other Soviet materials as a data base with certain additional modifications, arrived at the same figure. The number of all Russian Germans in 1930, on the eve of the catastrophe, can be calculated at 1,390,000 to 1,400,000. Therefore between 1930 and the beginning of 1937, the Russian Germans lost approximately one-fourth of their entire population---one out of every four was exterminated through deliberate starvation, deportation, or shooting. (pp. 64-65)
On the collectivization famine in the Volga-German ASSR, Volga- German professor Adolf Gersch writes, "The.....famine, which had been knowingly prepared by the Soviet leadership and the Communist Party, and which had as a consequence mortality on a massive scale among the Volga-German population, was also a planned mass murder. This statement is corroborated by Khrushchev himself, who admitted the famine of 1933 was an act of "murder"on the part of the government. In 1990, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine confessed that the famine had been deliberately created by the Soviet leadership.

In below video historian and researcher James Mayfield (Director of the Institute for Research of Expelled Germans) speaks at an academic conference on ethnic cleansing called "The Forgotten Genocide" in St. Louis, Missouri in February of 2010. Included is an analysis of the history of the Volga German minority in Imperial Russia, their adjustment to the Soviet Union, and then the total expulsion of nearly a million ethnic German civilians to the wastelands of Kazakhstan for forced labour in the gulags. As many as 30% may have died.

African "medicine murders" or muti-murders is a savage practice, in which the victims, especially children are deliberately tortured, skinned or mutilated alive because the agony and pain is thought to increase  the "ju-ju" of the harvested body-parts.
Needless to say, this is one part of indigeonous African culture, which the media is not particularly eager to let the public know about. It could after all dampen western appetite for more mass-immigration, and disturb both the anti-apartheit campaign and the carefully crafted image of the noble savage.
Therefore the practice has been allowed to grow in the shadow of "political correctness" for decades, and is now getting  making its way into Europe. However, some western newsreports have begun to break the silence. BBC could recently reveal that british authorities have managed to rescue some 400 Ugandan children, who were trafficked into the UK for use in blood rituals.
And even more disturbingly, a spokesman for the Ugandan Anti Human Sacrifice Taskforce has stated that the over-all increase "is directly linked to rising levels of development and prosperity, and an increasing belief that witchcraft can help people get rich quickly."  Polino Angela, a convert to Christianity and former witch-doctor, who himself butchered 20 people including his own son, says that he in Uganda "has persuaded 2,400 other witch-doctors to give up the trade since he himself repented in 1990." This should give some idea of just how widely the belief in the power of human sacrifice is held among tribal healers.

South Africa, where the below documentary was filmed, has had a "moratorium" on crime-statistics for  the past ten years and publication of recent figures is therefore banned from the public. But some alarming data were already available in 2001, where around 2,500 South-africans were caught in possesion of human body-parts many of which were traded through the  hospitals

African albinos are suffering particularly hard under these developments, because witch-doctors believe that albino body-parts are especially powerful for muti. The price of a full set of organs harvested from an albino is believed to be around 75.000 dollars. According to some estimates, around 10.000 albinos are currently fleeing certain parts of Africa(see embedded paper further below.) These prices has been interpreted by some investigators as an indication that Muti based on human sacrifice is accepted in some of the highest and wealthiest circles of African society.

Last month reports showed some characteristics of muti attacks on whites too, but I have been unable to determine whether or not whites are thought to have more or less ju-ju than blacks.

Christian spiritual deciphering of crowleyan elements in "the music that sparked the revolution" is one of the more difficult topics to post on. It is often scorned upon, simply because no single fact or statistic will ever be able to make the patterns stand out with sufficient clarity. I have therefore decided to simply compile the best documentaries and sermons on the topic in one single reference post.

I think it is fair to say, that after just a few hours of viewing there is a good chance that whatever natural scepticism one might have, will eventualy turn into genuine interest. Before viewing the below films, it might be good to try and recap some of the peculiarities of the Christian concept of evil. It is somewhat more complex than than the current humanist one, according to which evil simply translates into "intolerance" or "not being nice".
As far as I can tell, Christians view evil as stemming from a number of rebellious angels, whom God deemed to an empty eternal life in the athmosphere of the earth.The most important of them being the archangel Lucifer, often found in the shape of a serpent, ram or dragon.
From this athmospheric presence, these genderless, unreproductive beings seek to deceive,tempt, posses and corrupt the humans. They take pleasure in destruction, mayem and murder, and try to weaken family and nations by leading people off the straight and narrow. If you invite these beings in by prayer, ritual, or weaken yourself through drug-abuse, selfishness and immorality, then they are thought capable of channeling their might through you. Giving you a sense of power and pleasure in reward for letting them use your body and soul as an instrument of their schemes and longing for worship.The core of this understanding of evil and its markers is, I believe, deceit. This understanding of deception as the first sign of evil, has of course made Christians wonderfully vigilant over the centuries, and I think its fair to say, that it is exacly this vigilance, which we find terribly  lacking in the gullible dechristianized West of today.

Now, to an Aristotelian like myself, who is more inclined to define evil as simply the hatred of virtue, the christian perspective is indeed a different way of thinking altogether. But especially after reviewing below films, I realised, that the Christian perspective is able to reveal certain fundamental aspects of the so-called "youth-rebellion", which undoubtedly has reigned-in the cultural madness of today.
The christian perspective shows to what extent this rebellion was in fact an anti-christian movement. And how this anti-christian undercurrent seems to run through and unify both the new-age religion, the psychedelia, the revolution, the drug-use and the sexual liberation. Beneath all this one finds the same deep-seething hatred and contempt of the christian faith, and nowhere is this more obvious than in the musical expression of our age..
Furthermore, it is truely surprising to learn, how many of the key-players of modern rock pop, and hip-hop more or les openly admit and reveal extensive use of different kinds of crowleyan magic, and new-age spiritual channeling techniques. This is th interesting point, because if both the christians and the musicians acknowledge this, the point about "it all being superstitions" becomes mute.

On the evening of September 18, at 7 p.m., Bachus received another private briefing for congressional leaders by Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Ben Bernanke about the current state of the economy. They sat around a long table in the office of Nancy Pelosi, then the Speaker of the House. These briefings were secretive. Often, cell phones and Blackberrys had to be surrendered outside the room to avoid leaks.
What Bachus and his colleagues heard behind closed doors was stunning. As Paulson recounts, “Ben [Bernanke] emphasized how the financial crisis could spill into the real economy. As stocks dropped perhaps a further 20 percent, General Motors would go bankrupt, and unemployment would rise . . . if we did nothing.”
The members of Congress around the table were, in Paulson’s words, “ashen-faced.”
Bernanke continued, “It is a matter of days before there is a meltdown in the global financial system.” Bachus was among those who spoke. According to Paulson, he suggested recapitalizing the banks by buying shares.
The meeting broke up. The next day, September 19, Congressman Bachus bought contract options on Proshares Ultra-Short QQQ, an index fund that seeks results that are 200% of the inverse of the Nasdaq 100 index. In other words, he was shorting the market.

"But why can't we just do it again? Why can't we just issue our own money, debt free? That, my friends, is the answer. Talk about reform! That's the only reform that will make a huge difference to everyone's life -- even worldwide.

This is the famous documentary about the Auschwitz concentration camp, in which David Cole argues, that the physical evidence speaks against a claim of homicidal gas-chambers, designed and used for mass extermination in Auschwitz.
In the interview with the leader of the Auschwitz museum, Dr. Franciszek Piper, Cole is confirmed in his suspicion that the Zyklon-B insertion holes currently shown in Auschwitz, were in fact added after the war as part of a communist propaganda effort. A fact which today is generally accepted also by  historians, who support the claim of mass-exterminations through use of the poisonous delousing product Zyklon-B.
Due to the ensuing controversy the film landed Cole in the "Donahue Show" where he sought to correct a number of myths regarding the Nazi concentration camps (i.e. the hair- and lamp-shade myths, the "human soup" myth among others). He also informed a somewhat surprised audience, that the official death toll for the Auschwitz concentration camp alone, had already been lowered by three million and that the number of concentration camps thought to have been engaged in mass-extermination by gassing had dropped from the initial 22 to 6, curiously leaving all camps, still assumed to have had gas-chambers, behind the iron curtain of the postwar period, and thus uninspected by western scientists. David Coles blunt nature and impressive "chutzpah" of course got him into trouble after this appearance. The canadian Jewish Defense League went as far as to publish death threats and offer rewards for his home address.

"What is a David Cole? Is it a sickness? Is it a mental disease?
Is Cole merely a human parasite who clings to his ardent Nazi supporters and friends who back his ideas whole-heartedly?
After all, this Cole mania that the media have played on, don't you think it's time that we flush this rotten, sick individual down the toilet, where the rest of the waste lies?
One less David Cole in the world will certainly not end Jew-hatred, but it will have removed a dangerous parasitic, disease-ridden bacteria from infecting society (...)

Just as we must get rid of this monster, Cole, we must also get rid of the word "revisionism" from our vocabulary. This awful word and Cole, too, must be eliminated altogether. There is no argument. There needs to be no more debates, only the elimination of the Holocaust deniers."

David Cole later renounced any and all holocaust-revisionism in a short letter, and to my knowledge nobody ever heard from him since.

As mentioned in the film, what initially seems to have sparked Cole´s sceptical interest in the Holocaust, was the so-called Leuchter report, prepared by the american gas-chamber expert Fred Leuchter, which contained the first forensic investigation of the alledged Auschwitz gas-chambers for the defense, in the trial against Ernst Zündel. These findings were further substantiated in the Rudolf Report.

-What country is it that denigrates, defames and humiliates its war veterans to such a degree that finally one of them burns himself publicly in protest against what he calls a "Niagara flood of lies" against his generation?

-What country is it where well-founded, heavily footnoted books on political and historical topics, authored by academics with plenty of credentials, can be confiscated and burned by the authorities?

-What country is it where authors, editors, publishers, printers, wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, warehouses, and customers buying more than two copies of a certain medium can be prosecuted for producing, stocking, importing/exporting, distributing dissenting political and historical literature?

-What country is it that hides from its citizens, which media are outlawed, so that one cannot possibly know whether or not one commits a crime when distributing such media?

-What country is it where judges are threatened with prosecution because they did not punish political and historical dissenters harshly enough?

-What country is it that outlaws the introduction of exonerating evidence?

-What country is it that prosecutes defense lawyers if they try to introduce exonerating evidence on behalf of their clients?

-What country is it that does not keep records of what is said and is happening during trial proceedings?

-What country is it that has institutions designed to conduct political trials?

-What country is it that has a huge spy agency designed to snoop on opposition groups?

-What country is it where members of certain political opposition groups considered constitutional can nevertheless be deprived of some of their civil rights?

What country is it that, according to experts, will be a totalitarian state very soon, if things keep developing as they did so far?

-What country is it where even the mainstream media admit that this country is in a state of hysteria while persecuting political dissidents?

-What country is it where the head of state asks for children to spy on their parents and parents to spy on their children to make sure they do not harbor unwanted political views?

-What country is it where authorities and the public declare publicly to fight everything that is deemed to be politically on the right?

-What country is it where the authorities declare that half of their population deserves to be ostracized for harboring political views?

-What country is it that is proud of conducting more than 10,000 criminal prosecutions against persons for having committed peaceful "thought crimes"?

HANNITY: A two-year freeze on all federal salaries and immediate moratorium on new immigration, constitutional amendment making English the official language of the United States. Now, these are just a few of the things that my next guest says we must do if we want to save our country. Otherwise, America as we know it could be dead by the year 2025.

Well, and we'll only have ourselves to blame, he says. In his new book, "Suicide of a Superpower," former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan argues that while pursuing the perfect society of our dreams, we are literally killing the country that we inherited, the best and greatest in the world.

HANNITY: This is -- well, first of all, you wrote this book knowing that this was going to be controversial.

BUCHANAN: Right.

HANNITY: Why?

BUCHANAN: Well, I called it my last political will and testament. Sean, I decided to sit down for a couple years and figure out what happened to the country I grew up in. Why are we in such tremendous trouble not only with the status failing to defend the borders and can't balance its budget and can't end these trade deficits, it can't get manufacturing back. But socially, the country seems to be disintegrating. Why is it and why did it happen? And these are the answers basically I give. Now, you know, some of the solution you recommended or I recommended right at the end of that book, I think they will help solve the budget problem, and some of those problems. But I think some of our problems are so deep and endemic, I'm not sure they can be solved by politics...

HANNITY: Do we get to the point where there's a tipping point, I like Malcolm Gladwell's book, the tipping point being that, you know, half the other country is paying for the other half and the other half that's not paying even wants more and the country collides.

BUCHANAN: One John Sechalhones (ph) predicted this, half of the country basically becomes tax consumers and other half taxpayers. The tax consumers have no incentive if they are not, you know, they are not paying taxes really to get the government any smaller. Why should they?

And so you have got this tremendous conflict in society but it's only one of them, Sean. Take the idea, you know, in the 1950s, I don't care whether if you were for Truman or Eisenhower or what, the country has had a moral consensus. It had a moral unity, a moral code. Basically based in the old and new testament, which people believed in and felt was right and true. Ever since the social cultural revolution of the 1960s, that's completely collapsed. And with it, I think the traditional family has collapsed. And ideas of right and wrong have collapsed. I mean, we have talked about these issues, gay marriage or right to life and abortion and all of these things, promiscuity. One side says, well that's progressive, normal and natural. And the other side says, that's wrong.

HANNITY: How do you reconcile?

BUCHANAN: You don't reconcile. You can't. It's irreconcilable. But that's the source of these culture wars that culturally crop up, is the fundamental beliefs behind them and beneath them are irreconcilable conflict.

HANNITY: And, you know, you gave a famous speech, I think it was 1992.

BUCHANAN: Ninety-two, right.

HANNITY: And it created a big controversy. It's even quoted, I think Pat, to this day which shows the staying power of the Buchanan speech. But in all seriousness, you really are talking about a cultural divide on a major scale. And one thing that interested me in the book, you mentioned this was a desire, the end of Christianity, that many a dictator wanted. You quoted Karl Marx, opiate of the people et cetera, or the masses. And as I was reading this I'm thinking, you know, in many ways probably there's a lot of people celebrating that.

BUCHANAN: Listen, you know, we fought communism in Ronald Reagan's day and George Bush finished that Cold War up. The communism of Mao Tse Tung and Lenin and Stalin, horrible evil as it was, collapsed, it was a failure, it was a great success for a while. But the communism of Antonio Gramsci who argued that, look, he went to the Soviet Union. He said this place is failing, the people hate the place. What we've got to do is we've got to have a long march through the institutions of the west. And that long march to change their thinking and beliefs and basically get people so that they will accept cultural Marxism. They will embrace it as the Russian people rejected the other former -- and that's what happened. It's a trans- valuation as niche said of all values. What was wrong is now right and the reverse....

HANNITY: you talk a lot about balkanization. Balkanization when you look at the former Yugoslavia. The former Soviet Union. And how all these countries have broken up into a divide. I get the sense, your predicting a moral balkanization and economic balkanization of America, is that a good analysis?

BUCHANAN: That is an excellent analysis(...) I mean, the balkanization that's true and as we talked today, I have a chapter in there of 18,000 words, it's called ethno-nationalism and now, it's the triumph of tribalism. And what it is, Arthur Swazenger (ph) and Pat Monahan (ph) predicted at the end of the Cold War that the real conflicts coming up are going to be between peoples and tribes and races and cultures rather than ideologies like communism and capitalism. And I think they are right. All over the world, we see countries breaking down, breaking apart. Sudan just broke in half. Ethiopia broke in half. You see all the troubles in Kenya. You see Iraq.

You know, Sunni versus Shiites. Kurd versus Arab. Muslim versus Christian. The anti-Christian pandemic. The programs in the Middle East and everything. It is frightening but this is what is happening to the world it is all breaking down. Even in Europe, it's more peaceful. Scotland wants out. Catalonia wants out of Spain. Padania, Northern Italy wants out of Italy. Cypress is split in half. You take the Kurds, want out of Turkey. These are the battles I think of the future. This is the future of mankind. That's what makes me so concerned in the next segment about what's happening in our own country.

HANNITY: Well, what I predict will probably be the most controversial and you had to know this going in.

BUCHANAN: Right.

..But tonight I do want to speak from the heart to the 3 million people who voted for Pat Buchanan for President. I will never -- I will never -- I will never forget you, or the great honor you have done me. But I do believe -- I do believe deep in my heart that the right place for us to be now, in this presidential campaign, is right beside George Bush. This Party -- This Party is my home. This Party is our home and we've got to come home to it. And don't let anyone tell you any different.

Yes, we disagreed with President Bush, but we stand with him for the freedom to choose religious schools, and we stand with him against the amoral idea that gay and lesbian couples should have the same standing in law as married men and women. We stand with President Bush -- We stand with President Bush for right-to-life and for voluntary prayer in the public schools. And we stand against putting our wives and daughters and sisters into combat units of the United States Army. And we stand, my -- my friends -- We also stand with President Bush in favor of the right of small towns and communities to control the raw sewage of pornography that so terribly pollutes our popular culture. We stand with President Bush in favor of federal judges who interpret the law as written, and against would-be Supreme Court justices like Mario Cuomo who think they have a mandate to rewrite the Constitution.

Friends, this election is about more than who gets what. It is about who we are. It is about what we believe and what we stand for as Americans. There is a religious war going on in this country. It is a cultural war, as critical to the kind of nation we shall be as the Cold War itself. For this war is for the soul of America. And in that struggle for the soul of America, Clinton & Clinton are on the other side, and George Bush is on our side. And so to the Buchanan Brigades out there, we have to come home and stand beside George Bush (...)

Friends, in these wonderful -- In these wonderful 25 weeks of our campaign, the saddest days were the days of that riot in L.A., the worst riot in American history. But out of that awful tragedy can come a message of hope. Hours after that riot ended, I went down to the Army compound in South Los Angeles, where I met the troopers of the 18th Cavalry who had come to save the city of Los Angeles. An officer of the 18th Cav said, "Mr. Buchanan, I want you to talk to a couple of our troopers. And I went over and I met these young fellows. They couldn't have been 20 years old. They could not have been 20 years old. And they recounted their story.

They had come into Los Angeles late in the evening of the second day, and the rioting was still going on. And two of them walked up a dark street, where the mob had burned and looted every single building on the block but one, a convalescent home for the aged. And the mob was headed in, to ransack and loot the apartments of the terrified old men and women inside. The troopers came up the street, M-16s at the ready. And the mob threatened and cursed, but the mob retreated because it had met the one thing that could stop it: force, rooted in justice, and backed by moral courage.

Now, Greater -- Greater love than this -- "Greater love than this hath no man than that he lay down his life for his friend."¹ Here were 19-year-old boys ready to lay down their lives to stop a mob from molesting old people they did not even know. And as those boys took back the streets of Los Angeles, block by block, my friends, we must take back our cities, and take back our culture, and take back our country.

By January 2009 he had set up Tony Blair Associates - his international consultancy - which handles multi-million-pound contracts in the Middle East. It is so secretive we don't know all the locations in which they do business. Dispatches shows that at the same time as Blair is visiting Middle East leaders in his Quartet role he is receiving vast sums from some of them. If Blair represented the UK government, the EU, the IMF, the UN or the World Bank, this would not be permitted. He would also have to declare his financial interests and be absolutely transparent about his financial dealings. But no such stringent rules govern the Quartet envoy. However, he could opt to abide by the rules and principles of public life. First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Inspired by the August 1965 riots in the black district of Watts in Los Angeles (which erupted after police had used batons to subdue an African American man suspected of drunk driving), Cloward and Piven published an article titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty" in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation. Following its publication, The Nation sold an unprecedented 30,000 reprints. Activists were abuzz over the so-called "crisis strategy" or "Cloward-Piven Strategy," as it came to be called. Many were eager to put it into effect[...]

The authors noted that the number of Americans subsisting on welfare -- about 8 million, at the time -- probably represented less than half the number who were technically eligible for full benefits. They proposed a "massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls." Cloward and Piven calculated that persuading even a fraction of potential welfare recipients to demand their entitlements would bankrupt the system. The result, they predicted, would be "a profound financial and political crisis" that would unleash "powerful forces … for major economic reform at the national level."

Their article called for "cadres of aggressive organizers" to use "demonstrations to create a climate of militancy." Intimidated by threats of black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of "a federal program of income redistribution," in the form of a guaranteed living income for all -- working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.

This was an example of what are commonly called Trojan Horse movements -- mass movements whose outward purpose seems to be providing material help to the downtrodden, but whose real objective is to draft poor people into service as revolutionary foot soldiers; to mobilize poor people en masse to overwhelm government agencies with a flood of demands beyond the capacity of those agencies to meet. The flood of demands was calculated to break the budget, jam the bureaucratic gears into gridlock, and bring the system crashing down. Fear, turmoil, violence and economic collapse would accompany such a breakdown -- providing perfect conditions for fostering radical change. That was the theory... Read more
