Blanked-out windows, high metal railings, CCTV cameras and monitors - this is a building with high security.
I have come to one of a handful of refuges in Britain especially for Asian women and their children.
They are victims of violence in the name of so-called "honour", and they have all run away from a husband's home where the extended family has made their lives a misery.
In Asian and Middle Eastern communities, controlling women's behaviour is seen as key to the honour of the family.
Having a boyfriend, wearing make-up or Western clothes, refusing to marry someone chosen by your family or leaving an abusive husband - these can all be seen as dishonourable acts.
All the women I meet have put their lives in danger by coming to a refuge. They are frightened at first in front of the Panorama camera but I reassure them we will not show their faces and gradually they open up with their shocking stories.
They all came from Pakistan as young brides, had their passports taken away and were often locked up, not even allowed to learn English.
They suffered in silence, cut off from the outside world. They were treated as virtual slaves, doing all the housework, and none of them understood what they had done to deserve such treatment.
Qawal had freedom in Pakistan but that all changed when she came to England and was beaten not only by her husband but his mother as well.
"My mother-in-law hit me in the face so hard that blood poured from my ear," she told me. "I didn't know anything about the outside world, I couldn't speak the language and didn't know anything about money."
When Qawal hurt her leg after being thrown down the stairs, her mother-in-law came with her to the doctor so she was afraid to ask for help.
"They kept me a prisoner in the house. Once I was locked in the upstairs bedroom for 13 days," said Qawal.
"I thought the only way I am going to get out is through the upstairs window or by killing myself. I just wanted to end it."
Qawal finally escaped, barefoot in the snow, and ended up in the refuge.
The only way out
The suicide rate amongst south Asian women in Britain is three times the national average, as women who see no other way out of an abusive marriage take what they see as the only way out and kill themselves.
And there are between 10 and 12 cases of "honour" killing a year, all of them characterised by extreme violence.
Often several relatives are involved and the murder is sanctioned by the wider family.
Women in the Kurdish and Iranian communities are also controlled by "honour". I met a young Kurdish woman, Leila, who came to the UK to join her husband, who turned out to be violent and unstable.
"He put his hands around my throat and said he would kill me and cut me in pieces and put me in a rubbish bag - no one would know," said Leila softly.
She ended up in hospital but she was pregnant and returned to her husband until things got so bad the police were called, and she was able to escape. But running away has not ended the threat to her life.
"The dishonourable thing I did was to go into a refuge because in Kurdistan a refuge is seen as a very bad place", Leila told me.
Victims spoke to Panorama, with their identities concealed
|
But a quarter of forces did not respond and many crimes go unreported, so the figure is far higher.
There is now a national helpline for victims of domestic violence caused by "honour". Calls to the service have doubled in the four years since it was set up, to 500 calls a month.
At the helpline in an anonymous office building, I met a volunteer who is the victim of an "honour" crime. Neina was disowned by her family for running away from her husband when he beat her.
"Every time he hit me… my parents would say: 'Why did you raise your voice to him? You know you deserved it,'" said Neina.
Neina knows what motivated her parents. "For them to be disowned in society is a matter of honour for them. It's easier to sacrifice a son or a daughter than it is to sacrifice a society or your extended family, who you are trying to please all the time."
Neina nodded when I asked her if she was ever afraid she would be killed. "A lot of times, even now... my Dad has already said it to me: 'If you leave him (your husband) you are going to make me do something I don't want to do,'" she said.
Although they were still afraid, all the women I spoke to were determined never to go back to their abusive families.
All of them wanted to make a new start in Britain, get an education and raise their children to reject the code of "honour" which had blighted their mothers lives. Source
Documentary providing an undercover investigation and insight into Britain's growing Asian heroin gang problem. Thanks to BritainDivided for the upload
Few facts revealed..
- Mainly Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Hindu heroin gangs operating all over UK
- Involved at every level of trade, from smuggling to money laundering
- Using seemingly legitimate cash businesses as fronts
- Taxi's frequently used to delivery drugs around collect money
- Close-knit communities used to protect and conceal the trade and dealers
- Dealers offer free heroin to young people to get them hooked
- 7 tons of heroin smuggled into Britain from Pakistan, India and Bangladeshi every year
- 90% of heroin gets through and onto the streets, worth an estimated £2 billion pounds.
- 1kg of heroin sold in UK linked to at least 1,000 crimes.
- Heroin dealing linked to terrorism and Afghan war
- Heroin destroys lives, families and communities
A few years ago Daily Star ran a revealing article interviewing the pushers, quotes below:
“The UK’s heroin trade is increasing at an alarming rate and most of the cash helps arm terrorists with bombs and guns.”A street level pusher said the following:
The US has already been targeted in the evil campaign which mirrors a terror plot in the new James Bond novel Devil May Care.
Between 1990 and 2005 Taliban-linked drug peddler Haji Baz Mohammed raked in a staggering £17billion by pouring heroin into North America.
He told a US court that “selling heroin was a jihad because they were taking Americans’ money and the heroin was killing them”.
“The big bosses have Taliban and al-Qaida connections and we’re often told only to deal it to non-Muslims. They call it chemical jihad and hope to ruin lives while getting massive payouts at the same time.People interested in the use of drugs as a weapon of war and demoralization, might want to read the symposium "Sex, Drugs and Psychological Warfare"
“I’m more interested in the money. I knock it out to anyone, whatever their beliefs.
“But there are lots of big-hitters who only sell to non-Muslims – to poison them.”
Research suggests that thousands of children are potentially being sexually exploited by street grooming gangs. This may only be the tip of the iceberg, as experts believe many crimes of this nature go unreported.
Journalist Tazeen Ahmad investigates street grooming and hears from community leaders who say enough is enough and demand action on the issue. She meets victims of grooming and their parents, whose lives have been torn apart.
She hears how girls as young as 12 have been targeted by these gangs and so terrorised and brainwashed that they keep their ordeal secret for years.
In a particularly shocking encounter she talks to two young men who explain in detail how grooming by gangs is perpetrated, why virgins are more highly prized and how the commerce of this type of brutal sexual exploitation unfolds.

Another excellent Channel 4 documentary about the corrupt political elite of the UK Since resigning in June 2007, Tony Blair has financially enriched himself more than any previous ex-prime minister. Reporter Peter Oborne reveals some of the sources of his new-found wealth, much of which comes from the Middle East. On the day Tony Blair resigned as Prime Minister, he was appointed the official representative Envoy of the Quartet on the Middle East. By January 2009 he had set up Tony Blair Associates - his international consultancy - which handles multi-million-pound contracts in the Middle East. It is so secretive we don't know all the locations in which they do business. Dispatches shows that at the same time as Blair is visiting Middle East leaders in his Quartet role he is receiving vast sums from some of them. If Blair represented the UK government, the EU, the IMF, the UN or the World Bank, this would not be permitted. He would also have to declare his financial interests and be absolutely transparent about his financial dealings. But no such stringent rules govern the Quartet envoy. However, he could opt to abide by the rules and principles of public life. They were introduced by John Major, and Tony Blair endorsed and strengthened them for all holders of public office - but chooses not to himself. thanks to steen for the link and marcchabotyt for the upload
"Dispatches goes undercover to investigate allegations that teachers regularly assault young children in some of the 2,000 Muslim schools in Britain run by Islamic organisations.
The programme also follows up allegations that, behind closed doors, some Muslim secondary schools teach a message of hatred and intolerance.
The programme is presented by reporter Tazeen Ahmad.
Dispatches: Lessons in Hate and Violence will not be available on 4oD at this time, due to an ongoing police investigation concerning subjects featured in the programme."
Excellent documentary about the british welfare state, and the lies it is founded on. Made by Martin Durkin, who also brought us the marvelous documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle". A real Hero, out there changing the world for the better! - Highly recommended.

Interesting Q&A with the filmmaker followed the broadcast on Channel 4
Brilliant new Program from Channel 4s outstanding Dispatches-series.
They have once again managed to deliver a shipload of evidence on the subversive intent of religious muslims living in the west.
The pious Muslims have infiltrated a labour party, already heavily infiltrated by revolutionary socialists and KGB-sympathising traitors. In short - the unholy alliance is successfully running things in Great Britain.
Comparing the legislation in islamic republics, former socialist countries and the official Labour Party Program you have to arrive at one of two simple conclusions: Either there simply is no limit to the stupidity of the Labour Party; or they are themselves involved in a most evil scheme of deception and betrayal of their own electorate, the very people who will be first to face the consequences.
A clip from todays newspaper
Islamic radicals 'infiltrate' the Labour Party
A Labour minister says his party has been infiltrated by a fundamentalist
Muslim group that wants to create an “Islamic social and political order” in
Britain.
The Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE) — which believes in jihad and sharia law,
and wants to turn Britain and Europe into an Islamic state — has placed
sympathisers in elected office and claims, correctly, to be able to achieve
“mass mobilisation” of voters.
“They are acting almost as an entryist organisation, placing people within the
political parties, recruiting members to those political parties, trying to
get individuals selected and elected so they can exercise political
influence and power, whether it’s at local government level or national
level,” he said.
“They are completely at odds with Labour’s programme, with our support for
secularism.”

Peter Taylor investigates the terrorist threat from young Muslim extremists radicalised on the internet.
Following the attempt to bomb an airliner over Detroit on Christmas Day, this landmark series looks at the angry young men of Generation Jihad who have turned their backs on the country where they were born.
In the first episode, Peter hears from those convicted under Britain's newest anti-terror laws and investigates how some of the most notorious terrorists came to be radicalised. He finds a generation that has shed the moderate Islam their parents brought to this country, and instead have adopted a faith that they believe compels them to stand apart from Britain and its values.

With Britain facing a 'severe' level of terror threat, Dispatches investigates the roots of Islamic extremism in the UK and examines the government's attempts to win the battle for British Muslims' hearts and minds
Reporter Phil Rees, an expert on Islamist violence, explores the Koranic teachings that lie behind the concept of jihad and examines Muslim fury over Western foreign policy. He meets the clerics who justify and encourage attacks on British soil and analyses the government's response - to de-politicise Islam and to silence radical views.
Haras Rafiq, a government advisor on preventing extremism, tells Rees that between 15 and 20 per cent of British Muslims sympathise with Islamic militancy. To understand why there appears to be so much support for taking up arms, Rees examines the fundamental tenets of Islam that lie behind global jihad - such as 'Ummah' - a notion of Islamic brotherhood which encourages Muslims to act on behalf of one another - which can cause conflict with notions of patriotism. Former Guantanamo detainee, Moazzam Begg who travelled to Bosnia and Afghanistan to help fellow Muslims and took up arms, tells Rees that Ummah is more powerful than the bond of nationhood. "Faith identity is much stronger because it's based on a belief whereas the national identity is one that's based on geography and where you happen to be born."
Shahid Butt, who fought as a jihadist fighter in Bosnia describes the Ummah as an integral part of Islam, he says: "Telling Muslims to take the Ummah out is like asking me to cut my heart out of my body...Defending another Muslim is a compulsory act in Islam. You have to do it...if somebody came to my house and kicked the door down and tried to attack my family I'm gonna go in the kitchen and get the knife and I'm gonna defend them."
Another belief which is central to many Muslims living in the West is the 'Covenant of Security' which prevents Muslims from attacking their home nation if they are offered safety and freedom to pray. Rees visits an Islamic Centre in Luton where young men are taught to accept and honour the covenant. The teacher, Abdul Qadeer admits that persuading his congregation to reject more extremist interpretations is, "a fight for the minds."
In stark contrast, Rees meets an Islamic scholar who believes the British government has broken this covenant through its foreign policy in the Middle East so attacks can be theologically justified. His extreme views have seen him barred from Britain but he still communicates to his followers in Britain via the internet. Rees examines how the government is responding to these debates within British Islam. He discovers that the widely accepted cause of militancy is radical preaching - ignoring the grounds for violence cited by the London bombers - the West's foreign policy. The government's plans to combat extremism involve allocating millions of pounds to projects that nurture a non-violent, non-political Islam. But Rees discovers these projects have been met with suspicion by the Muslim community. Mufti Mohammed Zubair-Butt from the Institute of Islamic Jurisprudence in Bradford is critical of the new anti-extremist curriculum drawn up for schools in the city: "Is this a government initiative to make the Muslims pliant and just follow the government agenda and not question whatever they have to say?"
Rees concludes that government plans to tackle extremism which do not take into account the radicalising affect of its foreign policy and refuse to engage with its critics are unlikely to succeed - as long as aspects of Islam can be seen to justify violence when Muslims are under attack.

What prompts a young, well-educated, affluent Westerner to become a suicide bomber? This groundbreaking documentary traces how one ‘kind, really nice boy’ from England became the first Westerner to carry out a suicide bombing. We follow his journey from radicalisation in England to training with Al Qaeda and being recruited by Hamas. It’s a story which illuminates the Jihadi networks linking Hamas, Al Qaeda and the London bombers. Riveting viewing.
Decked in Hamas’ banners, a ‘martyr’ proudly records his final message. “It’s a great honour to kill these people. It’s a great honour”. This could be any one of countless martyr videos. Except the man, Asif Hanif, is speaking in English, with a strong Northern accent. Shortly afterwards, Asif and his friend Omar Sharif, also from England, walked into the packed Israeli bar, Mike’s Place, and detonated their explosives.
“Omar was just an ordinary young lad”, recalls one of his teachers. “He had a sort of innocence”. As a young boy, Omar was too busy to attend classes at Mosque or learn to read the Koran. It was only at university that his radicalisation began. “He was approached by Hizb Ut Tahrir, which was active in university campuses”, recalls a teacher. “They talked about Jihad very often.”
Amongst the other students attending Hizb Ut Tahrir’s lectures was Tahira Tabassum. “Suddenly, out of the blue”, Omar and Tahira decided to marry. Omar dropped out of university and they moved to London, praying at the infamous Finsbury Park Mosque. Here Omar joined disaffected Muslims. They listened to talks by Abu Hamza on how; “We will fight to kill in the cause of Allah until there are no enemies left”, and watching propaganda videos. “He was really fond of Abu Hamza”, recalls a friend. “He looked up to him”.
Omar also came under the influence of Mohammed Sidique Khan, who would later achieve notoriety as the leader of the London Bombers. Together, they set about attempting to recruit other young Muslims. “The impression that we got was that they were looking for gullible people”, states one man. Recruits were told by Sidique; “in order to learn the new ways of Islam, you may be asked to go to Afghanistan or Syria.” “At that stage, the lads said ‘hold on a minute, what’s going on?”
In the wake of 9/11, Omar traveled to Afghanistan to fight against his own countrymen. “He asked us to pray for him that he may become a martyr”, recalls Mohammad Ali Qureshi. “He appeared to be someone who’d already received training”. But to Omar’s disappointment, all foreign fighters were ordered to return home to avoid the US bombing. “When he returned, he was completely transformed”, recalls a friend. “He would cry ‘Allah, you are annoyed with me and that is why you have not granted me martyrdom”.
But Omar would be given another chance of martyrdom. After the invasion of Iraq, he traveled to Syria with his old friend Asif Hanif. “He was talking about fighting in Iraq”, recalls an acquaintance. But when they arrived in Damascus, they were passed into the hands of Hamas and given a new mission. “They didn’t know a lot about Palestine or about the Palestinian issue – nothing at all”, recalls one Palestinian. “They were just raw”.
When Israeli police found two British passports at the scene of the bombing, they didn’t believe they were genuine. “It seemed impossible that someone born in England would come here to carry out a terrorist attack”, stakes Maj, Genm Yosef Sedbon. In Britain, the victims of Mike’s Place were soon forgotten. But Britain’s first suicide bombing was also an inspiration to fellow Jihadis. Eighteen months later, Omar’s friend, Mohammed Sidique Khan, recorded his own farewell message to the world.

Aaronovitch explains where the left have gone wrong on Israel, Palestine, the War in Iraq and the War on Terror.

In this episode the dispatches teams went through the data on convicted gang-rapists and reveal an outragious disproportion of blacks and mixed-race perpetrators.
People have been warning against this fact for years, but mainstream media and politicians have dismissed even condemned these warnings. Under the guise of "fighting rascism" newspapers has more or less willingly avoided any and all accuracy in description of suspects, often letting people in their late twenties pass as "youths".
Any critically minded citizen can see right through the lies and squirming equivocations, and knows that the "fight against racism" is really a fight against public awareness of the unpleasant consequences of their policy of cultural disintegration and social-engineering.
Left-wing politicians simply can not come to terms with the fact that only a very limited part of a society is under the command of government policy, and has never fully realised that law enforcement operate after the fact, and is thus wholly unable to protect its citizents against disorganised criminal gangs and evil minded street-jihadists.
Highly recommended!
"In the wake of two recent, high-profile cases in which young women were brutally attacked and raped by groups of young men, journalist Sorious Samura investigates gang rape in the UK.
Using data collected from various sources, including the crown courts, barristers and rape referral centres, Dispatches attempts to discover the extent and cause of the problem. Four young victims describe their traumatic experiences, while Samura also talks to groups of teenagers about their attitudes to sex and relationships. He is appalled to hear what the boys consider to be acceptable sexual activity and the fears expressed by the girls.
While knife crimes and street weapons dominate the agenda on violent crime, Dispatches hears from youth workers, police officers and academics who believe this devastating type of attack requires more attention."

Series of interviews dealing with the ruthless harassment rape and sexual enslavement of white british girls by immigrants. These girls were let down by every authority they turned to, and their stories remain untold by mainstream media.
Their testimony is heartbreaking leaving the viewer with unanswered questions as to the reasons behind this systematic negligence of law-enforcement, social-workers, and media. The apparent reason for this negligence is that the perpetrators were non-white immigrants. It would take a truely brilliant psychiatrist to peel the layers, in this inference.
"Nobody did anything to stop the repeated cases of rape, beatings and sexual enslavement of white british girld because the perpetraors were non-white immigrants."
But the title alone does give a hint in the right direction... How did these cases come to be labelled "asian grooming" in the mainstream media?
Watching the interviews grooming is about as far away from the truth as anything, but maybe thats excactly what it is suppose to be.

The film was directed by a cousin of Anthony Fatayi-Williams, one of the 13 people blown up on the No 30 bus in Tavistock Square. Thomas Ikimi, 28, said he hoped The Homefront will help pressure the Government into holding a public inquiry into the 2005 bombings, in which 52 innocent people died. He has dedicated the film to Mr Fatayi-Williams, from Hendon, a 26-year-old executive with oil and gas company Amec. The documentary includes interviews with his mother, Marie Fatayi-Williams. The 52-year-old executive with Elf Oil spoke of her devastation at losing her son. Mr Ikimi claims to have made some "shocking" discoveries, such as how little terror awareness training has been given to London Underground staff and police officers since the attacks. "There are no big new security measures, nothing to help awareness. Basically, they are no wiser than you or me. I'm incredibly disappointed with the way the Government has dealt with the families of victims. The fact they were shut out of the inquiry into the bombings is scandalous. "The British people have been done a great disservice. I believemy cousin, and all those who lost their lives in the attacks, deserved the respect of having a public and open inquiry into their deaths so that lessons could be learned from such a mindless massacre. "If the Government wasn't going to do this then I decided I must do it myself. "This film is about educating people and inviting people to join the debate on terror and think about the issues around it. TFL blocked me, cinemas refused to show it, TV stations said it is too depressing for their audiences and too stark and close to home, and the distributor I did have left the film because he was afraid Ken Livingstone and TFL would sue him for releasing it. "How can we prevent something like this happening in the future if we don't know how and why it occurred? People need to think about this.
