- Thomas Jefferson, when asked about judicial supremacy said:
"It´s an absurdity - it would be an Oligarchy!"Newt Gingrich at yesterdays Faith and Freedom Coalition event, addressed the crucial issue of the supreme courts power grab, and how to achieve proper balance between the different powers of the state. Newt once again completely in a class of his own!
There simply is no other established mainstream politician who dares draw the conclusions he does publicly, which in my oppinion makes him the only serious candidate. its 2+2=2012!

Almost nine years after the 9/11 attacks, the United States has yet to confront the threat posed by the extremist and irreconcilable wing of Islam. Former Speaker of the House and AEI senior fellow Newt Gingrich will warn that now is the time to awaken from self-deception about the nature of our enemies and rebuild a bipartisan commitment, in Afghanistan and elsewhere, to defend America. Drawing on the lessons of Camus and Orwell, Gingrich will describe the dangers of a wartime government that uses language and misleading labels to obscure reality.
He will explain why we need a debate about this larger war against the irreconcilable wing of Islam—which mortally threatens America’s way of life, freedom, and rule of law—and how it relates to the nuclear threat from Iran and the various other risks posed to America’s very existence. Most importantly, Gingrich will argue that America will remain at risk until it confronts this willful blindness about the nature of its enemies and the nature of the war in which it is engaged.
The livestream will begin below shortly before the event on July 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. EST.
Missing Newt's Point on the "Phony War on Terror"
Andy McCarthy From the National Review
By taking one sound-bite out of context, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has Newt Gingrich saying pretty much the opposite of what he said in a speech last week.
In a report on Saturday, they have the former Speaker grousing in a speech last week that "the Bush administration is waging a 'phony war' on terrorism." If you read what he actually said, however, Newt said that the war is entirely real. What is "phony," he argued, is the administration's approach to the war — including the reluctance to come to terms with the facts that radical Islam is the enemy, that you can't win it in a single theater (like Iraq), and that any serious approach would require real thought about energy independence.
I think he might have used a better word than phony — inadequate or superficial spring immediately to mind as possibilities. But this was not like John Edwards' bumper sticker drivel that the war is phony, as in a pretext for what is really an executive power-grab. Newt thinks we need a better strategy to win the real war. That's about as different from Edwards as it gets.

Great speech by Newt Gingrich given at the Business Executives for National Security Forum on 5/15/08. It contains strong warnings against the multiple threats facing the United States and what he considers to be a far to weak approach implemented by the bush administration. An important statement, considering the course followed by the present administration.
Highly Recommended!
