Thanks to Panos Ioannides, President of Movement for FREEDOM and JUSTICE IN CYPRUS, for obtaining this crucial report.

THE SUNDAY TIMES (London, 23 January 1977) secured a copy of a secret Council of Europe Report, which found Turkey guilty of violating seven articles of the European convention on Human Rights.

On the ground of the 1976 secret Report, THE SUNDAY TIMES published on 23rd January 1977 a first page massive indictment of the Ankara government for the murders, rapes and looting by the Turkish army in Cyprus during and after the 1974 Turkish invasion, together with an Insight Exclusive titled “Turk atrocities: What secret report reveals”.

To the fury of the Turkish government, the newspaper published extracts of the secret Report, that document the KILLING and EXECUTION of civilians (men, women and children), the REPEATED RAPES of women of all ages from 12 to 71, the ENFORCED PROSTITUTION of women and girls, the SYSTEMATIC TORTURE of people (including children, women and pensioners), and the SYSTEMATIC LOOTING in all Turkish-occupied areas of Greek Cypriot houses and business premises.

The Movement for Freedom & Justice in Cyprus has secured the full text of the Council of Europe's SECRET Report on the Turkish Atrocities in Cyprus, which should have been THE BIBLE of all Governments’ (of Cyprus and Greece)  efforts against Turkey since 1976…

Here is the Report (in English):

"The identification of statements that could be classified
as “hate speech” seems all the more difficult because this
kind of speech does not necessarily manifest itself through
expressions of “hatred” or emotions. “Hate speech” can be
concealed in statements which at a first glance may seem
to be rational or normal." p.5

Part of the Atheist Demographics Series

If now asked to define the essential difference between the first and second demographic transitions, I would simply say that while the first, the traditional demographic transition, was a long term consequence of the decline in mortality, the second transition should be interpreted as a consequence of fertility declining way below the levels long thought plausible[...]

It is a truism to observe that just as social change was the underlying cause of the first demographic transition, it is the underlying cause of the second. Social change has three distinct dimensions and comes in various guises. The dimensions are structural, cultural, and technological in nature. Depending on the perspective chosen, social change is sometimes equated with ‘modernization’, sometimes with westernization’ or ‘technological civilization’. Nowadays the term ‘post-modernization’ is also frequently encountered; it is then used to describe a form of social change considered specific for the present era.

There is no doubt at all, that all three dimensions of social change have played a role, and will continue to play a role, in the important demographic shifts just reviewed[...] I have no quarrel at all with scholars who point at such structural shifts when they search for an explanation of the population trends observed since the mid-sixties. But, with Ariès I feel that there is more on people’s mind than concern about economic wellbeing, income, and material resources. Etienne van de Walle, expressed these sentiments very well when he argued that what we see in demographic behaviour is a ‘translation’ of cultural representations. Decisive, so it would
seem to me, is what people want out of life. What is the end state they aspire to? How do they look upon themselves as human beings? Do they live life in order to gain an ever blissful and happy afterlife? Or do they only recognize the one life as it is to be lived here and now?

Two very interesting documents concerning infiltration of social networks. The first one specifacally concerned with destructive manipulation of the English Defence League.

The obvious conclusion to be drawn from this is, that EDL might have to drop the prestigious "minority divisions" and rely solely on the real local divisions. Within these divisions members will have a traceable history within the community, which again make them much less vulnerable towards impostors and special-interest groups with divisive agendas.
Needless to say, this should not keep minorities from joining the EDL, but simply encourage them to join a division like any other Englishman would.

Thanks to the Tennesee Educator for raising this important issue

HACKING SOCIAL NETWORKS: EXAMINING THE VIABILITY OF USING COMPUTER NETWORK ATTACK AGAINST SOCIAL NETWORKS
The six-month assessment of the scale of "street grooming" was launched after a high profile case saw a number of Asian men convicted of sexually abusing girls in Derby.

Ceop said it had evidence of 230 gangs, mostly young men, who were identifying and grooming children for systematic sexual abuse. Some groups were large enough to be considered organised crime enterprises that were supplying victims to be raped by paying clients.

"This is a horrific kind of crime," said Mr Davies. "It involves systematic, premeditated rape of children and needs to be understood in those stark terms. It needs to be brought out of the dark." read more

Warning: suspicious data-manipulations concerning ethnicity - leaving out 2/3s of cases (first half the cases then 32 percent of the remaining), and not stating any definitions of the different categories etc.
The report itself declares numbers regarding ethnicity irrelevant.

‘Ethnicity’ was often conflated with ‘nationality’. Neither factor is captured according to a standardised or conventional classification scheme. For example, in many circumstances, a single entry for both ‘ethnicity’ and ‘nationality’ may have been recorded as ‘British Asian’ by a police force or other agency. Clearly, this entry is inadequate for the classification of ethnicity according to conventional schemes.

We do not draw national conclusions about ethnicity from the data available at this time because it is too inconsistent. It is also significantly reliant on a relatively limited number of areas where agencies have been proactive and where there have been substantial police investigations. Further research would be needed to examine whether the ethnic breakdown reflects issues that need to be addressed within a community context, local demographics of the areas from which data is drawn, an unconscious bias among agency responses or other factors that need to be explored. (p.41)

But for assessing the magnitude of the problem the report is among the first of its kind

Street Grooming Study - 2,000 victims of systematic abuse

I picked the above graphic as one out of many interesting statistics in the PEW survey on public opinion polls in muslim countries. It is of course interesting to see, that of all the millions of egyptian protesters only some 2 percent found it "bad" that Islam plays such a large role in Egyptian politics. Had it been fewer, it would have been a segment of the population "too small to analyze". But let´s hope that these 2 percent of Egyptian secularists by the use of Facebook and twitter will be able to convince the remaining 95 percent.
