Douglas Murray talked about his book Neoconservatism: Why We Need It, published by Encounter Books. British commentator Murray talked about the movement that replaced Great-Society liberalism, helped Ronald Reagan bring down the Berlin Wall, and provided the intellectual rationale for the Bush administration's efforts to eliminate global terrorism. While it is being blamed for foreign policy failures, Mr. Murray argued that the West needs neoconservatism more than ever. In addition to explaining what neoconservatism is and where it came from, he said that this American-born response to the failed policies of the 1960s is the best approach to foreign affairs not only for the United States but also for Britain and the West as well. After his presentation he responded to audience members’ questions.
